Sandra Betzina
Voted Teacher of the Year, Sandra is recognized nationwide from her Sew Perfect program on HGTV. She writes a syndicated sewing column called "Power Sewing" and feature articles for national and international magazines. She currently designs a line of patterns called "Today's Fit." Sandra was inducted into the Sewing Hall of Fame in 2002. Sandra has written 10 books and created 12 instructional videos.
Tammie Bowser
For the past 18 years Tammie has taught at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. When she became interested in quilting, she was able to draw upon her knowledge of design, patternmaking, and color theory. After finishing her first quilt, she literally dreamed up the idea for Quilted Photography. She's now teaching others how to achieve this amazing effect through her website, classes, books, patterns, kits, and workshops.
Bonnie Browning
Bonnie teaches quilting at conferences throughout the U.S. and Australia. Bonnie was invited by Minister Talay of Turkey to attend the first international quilt show in that country and was invited to participate as a judge, speaker, and instructor at the Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival in Japan. Bonnie is a certified quilt judge and is qualified to judge master quilts. She has served on boards of art councils, local quilt guilds, the National Quilting Association, and Quilters Unlimited Showcase. Bonnie is the author of seven books on quiltmaking.
Maddie Bushman
Maddie Bushman, known to many as Ms. Maddie, travels throughout the U.S. teaching specialized serging techniques at retail stores, sewing events and retreats. Maddie can demystify the challenges of using a serger in one brief class. Not to mention, you will always be inspired by her latest original creations which include garments, accessories, quilts and crafts. You never know what new inventive project Maddie has in her “sample suitcase” until you take her class.
Sheryl Capps
Sheryl travels and teaches throughout the U.S. at sewing and quilting events. Her classes focus on combining embellishment techniques with decorative machine stitching and embroidery. Many times she will illustrate how to use the power of embroidery software to achieve results. She is mostly fond of teaching students how to decorate a plain item from ready-to-wear and make it something special. Sheryl’s home dec projects and quilts are just as inspiring!
Mary Carollo
Mary has an extensive background in the sewing industry. She has taught numerous classes on using your embroidery machine to its maximum. Mary shares many of her shortcuts throughout her classes that will be sure to improve your embroidery. Her creative ideas for home dec will be sure to leave you with the desire to redecorate your entire home.
Trevor Conquergood
Trevor has been digitizing designs for more than 20 years. As manager of the Design Team at Stitchitize Embroidery Design Learning Studio, he has overseen the creation of more than 40,000 embroidery designs. He is an experienced user of most types of embroidery software, including programs for both home and professional use.
Kim Diehl
Kim Diehl began teaching herself to make quilts in 1997 after chancing upon a sampler quilt pattern at a sidewalk sale. In 1998, she won American Patchwork & Quilting magazine's "Pieces of the Past" challenge and soon after began publishing her original quilt designs in national magazines. Kim's first book entitled "Simple Blessings" was recently released by Martingale & Company, and she is currently at work on her second book.
Lyla Messinger
Lyla J. Messinger is an author, designer and international speaker. She is known for creating inspiration while sharing her knowledge and endless ideas to help individuals like you create garments that truly reflect your personality. Her new full color book, Ordinary to Extraordinary: Terrific Treatments for Garment Sewing features her popular and original techniques. See her newest designs, samples and techniques in her seminars.
With degrees including those in clothing and textiles, along with her varied experience as classroom teacher, store owner, RTW (ready to wear) factory worker, and custom dressmaker, Lyla pushes her machine and serger to their limits as she creates stylish, boutique style clothing. You will find her garments and techniques featured in popular sewing magazines such as Threads and Sew News, and in Taunton’s book Notions. She has also appeared on the television program Sew Much More on DIY network. Lyla is President of L.J. Designs, which will be celebrating its’ 10th anniversary in 2004. The success of the company is based on Lyla’s ability to combine do-able sewing machine embellishments and embroidery with simple styles. Lyla is a member of the American Sewing Guild, the Sewing Edcator Alliance and the Independent Pattern Alliance.
Cynthia Scott
Cynthia is a real inspiration to all. She is known for her selection of bold color, good fabric, and great design as her favorite ways to express herself. It shows in all her sewing projects; whether it’s her colorful quilts, creative clothing or clever home decor. Having won ribbons for her work on both a local and national level, she has had her work featured in national publications, books, and on PBS TV shows Quilt Central, and Kaye’s Quilting Friends.
Mary Alice Smith
Mary Alice Smith, digitizer, designer, embroiderer, author and teacher; Mary Alice enjoys sharing her love of machine embroidery best. Mary Alice was among the first group of independent instructors to receive the Brother PEDesign Certification, recognizing her knowledge, understanding and ability to teach the PEDesign Personal Embroidery Software. Owner and moderator of one of the most popular online discussion lists, Alabama Embroidery, where Mary Alice frequently provides virtual instruction.
Sally Terry
Sally began sewing doll clothes when she was three years old and has since seen her ideas have been published in quilting magazines and books. She's the author of multiple pattern books, has made several quilting videos, and is Celebrity Instructor for Quilt Central TV. Sally is a sought-after speaker at guild programs, and teaches at national quilt shows.
Karen Varinecz
Karen has been working in the field of embroidery digitizing for 20 years. Her classes are highly requested throughout the U.S. in sewing machine dealer’s stores as well as embroidery events. Karen has developed many training guides to help explain the sometimes seemingly complex world of embroidery digitizing. While taking her class you will be sure to understand the intricacy of creating embroidery designs using digitizing software in a simple to understand format.
